This seven day retreat has been carefully designed to purify and rejuvenate the body/mind through a wide variety of embodiment practices drawing on the lineages of hatha and kundalini yoga: buddhist teachings and meditation, tantra and advaita vedanta philosophy, shamanism, taoism, shadow work, ritual and ceremony and healing bodywork. Daily rejuvenation is facilitated by purifying the body of toxins so this retreat will be ALCOHOL FREE
Erika will offer around five hours of practice daily including a wide range of dynamic and restorative yoga, partner work, pranayama, meditation, yoga nidra, mantra meditation, ritual/ceremony, nature connection and much more. There will be one afternoon off during the week for excursions further afield.
Each day of the retreat will begin with silent meditation (optional for those of you who are not early risers), followed by an active morning yoga class. Morning asana practice will focus on gentle warming and hydrating practices that loosen and release the body as well as strengthening and stabilising sequences. In the afternoons we will focus on restorative / yin yoga practices as well as the deeply nourishing practice of yoga nidra (a guided meditation technique designed to move you into a profound state of relaxation and self awareness).
By the end of the retreat you will be full of the joys of spring, nourished and rejuvenated and full of inspiration to carry on your life's mission with a new sparkle in your eyes and a smile in your heart.
Erika has three decades of healing, yoga and meditation experience. She draws on a wide range of lineages and yoga styles including Hatha: Iyengar, Ashtanga, Yin/Yang, Restorative, Yoga Nidra, Tantra, Kundalini Yoga, Non-
Linear Movement, Vipassana meditation, Advaita Vedanta philosophy and Buddhism. She has been teaching yoga full time in London’s top yoga studios and leading retreats internationally for over twenty years. She is a part of the Teacher Training Faculty at Triyoga and has been working as a bodyworker / healer for over thirty years. She has worked extensively with plant medicines over the last twelve years which brings a shamanic flavour to her work, connecting to Nature and the elements through ritual and ceremony, music and sound.
Erika is passionate about natural healing and loves nothing more than to hold the retreat space to offer a precious opportunity for people to experience a profound awakening by using movement and stillness, sound and silence, challenge and relaxation in a soulful, nurturing environment. Erika is constantly inspired by the incredible transformations that she has witnessed in people’s lives through the healing power of yoga.
Suryalila is a beautiful old renovated olive farm consisting of eight houses that form the cortijo. In typical Spanish style there are two inner courtyards, one of which blooms with orange and lemon trees.
The property sits on 50 acres of land and is still a working olive farm with 800 olive trees. We also grow organic vegetables and fruits and keep chickens for eggs.
Suryalila is nestled serenely in a large open valley in the foothills of the Sierra de Grazalema. This majestic mountain range can be seen looming large on the horizon behind Suryalila. A striking part of the natural beauty of the property is the breathtaking vista extending in all directions: rolling hills, fields of sunflowers, and lakes. The sense of vastness and expansiveness is very uplifting.
Most of the food is organic and grown in the garden. The gourmet feasts that are prepared three times a day is also why people love to return to this venue again and again. This will be our seventh year there.
As well as the yoga there will be opportunities for hiking/walking, swimming in the salt water pool, enjoying the sauna, bike riding, horseback riding, receiving healing treatments or a spot of retail therapy in the wonderfully stocked boutique.
